The fifth annual Hockomock Film Festival Awards Ceremony was held in June at Stonehill College. This year the films were divided into two categories, documentary and drama. Awards were presented to two finalists in each category. A list of award recipients is below.

The fourth annual Easton Film Festival “EFFie” Awards Ceremony was held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at the Martin Institute at Stonehill College. This year the films were divided into three categories, documentary, drama and new this year- music video. Awards were presented to two finalists and in several special recognition categories. A full list of award recipient is below.
Erica Pires accepts the EFFie for First Finalist in Documentary Film for her film “2005 Girls Basketball.”
Documentary Second Finalists Courtney O’Neill, Bria Wilbur and Stephanie Wilbur with their EFFie for the film “The College Process.”
A representative from the Drama First Finalist team of Kenny Kaitz, Kelly Chase, and Marcus Hammett accepts the EFFie for the film “Ambiguous.”
Drama Second Finalist Sean Davis accepts his award for his film “xCHOPSTICKSx.”

In addition to the first, second and third place “EFFies,” special recognition awards were presented in categories including “youngest participant.” Congratulations to all participants for their excellent work and thanks to all who helped make the festival a success.

The first annual Easton Film Festival screening and awards ceremony was held June 15, 2002 at the Martin Institute at Stonehill College. There were 22 entries. Congratulations to all of the winners and members of the community who submitted films. Wonderful effort on everyone’s submittal!
“Effie” Award Winners:
The awards included gift certificates to The Camera Company of Norwood.
1st Place ($1500 Gift Certificate)
Untitled — Melinda Pollard
A couple’s arguing results in a car accident that changes their lives.
2nd Place (tie)($800 Gift Certificate)
French and Indian War — Ben Del Guercio
A documentary film on the French and Indian War with excerpts filmed at Borderland State Park.
2nd Place (tie)($800 Gift Certificate)
Heavy — Michael Johnson
A film about the band, Last Step. Interviews with the four band members on how they view the music industry.
3rd Place ($200 Gift Certificate)
The Waitress — Tara Fisher
A tribute to silent films. The film recreates the feel of a black and white short. Starring Tatum Harvey in the title role and Alan Van Epps as Moxey, a man with a plan.

Honorable Mention
Honoring Easton’s Veterans of World War II — First Semester History Class of Edmund C. Hands, OAHS
A slide show on film showing those veterans who left high school before graduating. They received honorary diplomas in a special ceremony held at Oliver Ames High School.

A short feature film on how to edit and create a movie.
Star Gem — Ian McCahill
A science fiction movie about the quest for energy.
Welcome to the web site of the Hockomock Film Festival (HFF), a film festival for towns of the Hockomock League. We started five years ago as the Easton Film Festival, but now we are expanding because of the explosive growth of amateur filmmaking everywhere. Our goal is to create a community of filmmakers who not only compete with each other, but also meet up at events and seminars to learn from each other.
To enter the HFF, films must be produced by residents of the following towns that comprise the Hockomock League: Canton, Easton, Foxborough, Franklin, Mansfield, Norfolk, N. Attleborough, Plainville, Sharon, Stoughton, Wrentham.
There are three categories: drama, documentary and music video. Prizes are given out for each category on Awards Day, held each May or June at Stonehill College.
